What is the Black Pearl Project?

I am here to introduce my latest and obviously largest project. The Black Pearl Project.

The Black Pearl came as a bright idea for a new Sci-Fi game, but after the massive influence that EVE had on me, I decided that it must be dedicated to this ever vibrant universe.

Present day the Black Pearl Project is aiming to provide fresh ideas to EVE Developers and Players and do the best to enrich the universe of New Eden. Not just once – its goal is to provide concepts repeatedly and become an integral part of our vast and exciting Sci-Fi world. The project will promote ideas of all kind covering every aspect of the game and also provide new elements to fill open gaps or add entirely new content and help New Eden to expand beyond measure. This is my way to contribute to my favorite parallel reality which has become my second Home.

Forcefield Blades

Introducing the Forcefield Blades Idea from the Black Pearl Project.

Being inspired by many blade fights that I’ve seen, I decided to attempt to bring the excitement of such battles to the Sci-Fi universe of EVE. I have done my best to make this idea original and not colliding with existing concepts in the genre. I was not aware of the Nova Knife idea, presented in the DUST 514 site when I was designing the Forcefield Blades. Seems like a strange coincidence that CCP and I have come to similar projects.

Overview Booster

Good things happen during Fanfest. Take the night before it started: I had an idea for some Overview improvements in EVE. On the other day I was watching the Fanfest stream and learned that the CCP Fleet needs improvements on the Overview. Someone from the CSM members talked about it.

So this is what I’m going to blog about.

I will say again that I am out of EVE at the moment because my PC has outdated hardware, but I will get back in one way or another. Meanwhile I am having more ideas.

It all started when I remembered how difficult it was sometimes to select the appropriate target in order to keep distance to your foes or control their influence on you. So I started thinking of some handy buttons on top of the Overview that allow pilots to easily select targets, sorted by different criteria depending on their behavior. I will call them Quick Selection Buttons.

Future Plans

It’s good to have plans. Someone could say that having plans is a silly idea, since most of the things that happen to us cannot be planned, but still it is good to have some idea of what you should be doing for the next few months. Also – I totally agree with this idea:

If you have no plans, chances are that you will eventually fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.
 Jim Rohn

This applies not only in Real Life, but also in EVE… which actually is Real Life again. ;)

So… I am now playing with the EVE Fitting Tool – checking out various fittings for the ships I want to fly in the near future when I will eventually come back to New Eden. This will happen in one way or another. And when it does, I will finally be Home again! :)
